Augusta is growing like a weed and learning new things everyday. It's pretty fun to watch how excited she gets over little things like a shoe box or sliced strawberries. She still isn't quite crawling, but is soooo close. I need to start thinking about baby proofing the house. Ian finished his first year at UP at the beginning of the month (yay!) and is already half way through his summer school session. We've continued to be busy working on our outdoor spaces (it's taken a lot longer than I anticipated, but we're almost done) and are looking forward to enjoying drinks on the patio and eating some of the veggies we've planted. Can't believe summer is almost here.

The Month in Photos: April 2014
April is over already?!?!?! We had a lovely visit from Ian's parents, took a quick trip down to Eugene, enjoyed some Easter festivities, and are attempting to get our outdoor spaces up to scratch. That's about it for the month! Sorry Lute and Ian, you guys got the short end of the stick again this month.

The Month in Photos: March 2014
Well March was a busy one for us. Ian took his MBA class to Ireland for a week and rather than stay home alone with a baby, Gussie and I flew down to Albuquerque to visit Ian's folks. Gussie had her 6 month (!) check up and we've been working on a couple of minor projects around the house. Later in the month we had a visit from our friends Brent and Hilary and their two girls, spent a day at the beach and tried to enjoy the nice spring weather as much as possible.

Belated Caturday
I was out for a walk with Gussie and Lute and came home to this:
It looks like Jack was plotting something sinister.
PS. Don't you just love his chubby front legs?!? They crack me up.

Pets on Furniture
Every year, Modernica (a modern furniture manufacturer in Los Angeles) hosts the contest Pets on Furniture where you can submit a photo of your pet on, you guessed it, furniture for a chance to win one of Modernica's great pieces. We entered the above photo of Jack. There are lots of great entries this year, including Andrew and Whitney's cat, Butters.

Check out the submissions and vote for your favorite here!

The Month in Photos
Hi folks! I decided to start a "month in photos post" at the end of every month. This first post covers most of the summer and is in no particular order. (For those of you that follow me on instagram, there's a bit of overlap). Hope you enjoy!
Hiking at Smith Rock in Central Oregon
A cute set of teacups that I somehow managed to walk away from.
Stunning view at Brasada Ranch.
Celebrating Ian's parents 40th! wedding anniversary at Brasada Ranch
Artichokes at the farmers market
Timberline Lodge
View from Timberline Lodge
Mirror Lake
City views.
Jack-Attack playing it suave.
I was pretty excited about this.
Lute enjoying bathtime.
Taking selfies at a friend's wedding
Corn Muffins
Little flowers from our garden.
Trails on Mt. Tabor
Sweet Lola-cat
Ian, on his way to campus for the first day on class. Isn't he handsome!
A baby gear explosion! I can't tell you how many times I walked into the nursery to start organizing things and ended up just standing there for 30 seconds or so and then walking out because I was too overwhelmed. Luckily, I finally got things under control and the nursery is basically finished. Just waiting on a few finishing touches.

Happy Caturday
I always tease Ian that he spoils our pets. It's so hard for him not to give them what they want. It's kind of cute how sweet he is with them, but it has led to some not so sweet consequences. A good example of this is that one day Ian decided it would be nice to give Jack a little spoonful of half and half while he was making coffee in the morning. A year later, this little bit of half and half is no longer a special treat for Jack, but something he feels he rightfully deserves each morning. As soon as Jack smells even a hint of coffee he races into the kitchen and starts pacing around. If Ian's not quick with the half and half, Jack starts meowing just like the little guy in the video. I can even hear him upstairs while I'm getting ready for work and they are downstairs in the kitchen. When Lola wants something badly enough to meow for it, the meow is so sweet and polite as if she's saying, "If it's not too much of a bother I would really appreciate if you could help me out with...". Not Jack! His meows sound more like "GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!" Ian has definitely created a little morning monster (he has two on his hands now, since I'm the same way with my coffee ;).

Happy Caturday!
I love this tote bag from Stay Home Club! Nine times out of ten I prefer staying home and snuggling with my kitties (especially during these winter months) so I completely identify with this brand. Enjoy the pictures below!
Jack and Lola getting cozy without me. Jack's lion cut has almost grown out. We need to make another appointment for him to be shaved.
You can't really tell from this picture, but that's me under the blanket. Lola loves to curl up with me on the couch and I love it too! It's our girl time together :).

Happy Caturday
This is a fun little video about the cats of the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. Check out this article from the New Yorker for more info about the cats. Maybe I should start bringing Jack and Lola to the gallery ;).

Happy Caturday!
We'd been complaining about it for months. It would follow us wherever we went and turn up in unexpected places. It was driving us crazy. Cat hair was ruining our lives. It was time to put an end to it. It was time to shave the cat...
...And, hey, we decided if we're gonna shave him, we might as well make it as ridiculous as possible, tail poof included. Happily, Jack's confidence doesn't seem to have taken a hit.

Happy Halloween!
If you look really carefully you can see a werewolf (Lute) in the doorway!
I think our front steps look pretty ghoulish. I wasn't up for the mess of carved pumpkins, but I think putting lighted tea lights near the pumpkins is just as festive.
As a black cat, I thought Halloween would be Lola's favorite holiday, but when I asked her, this is the response she gave me:
Lame joke, I know, but I've been dying to use this picture!

Jack decided to be a vampire...maybe this is why Lola doesn't like Halloween |

Surviving Sandy
Lute keeping an eye on the storm
Earlier this morning
Here are a few more photos of our fall so far:
Cheering on the Ducks from the East Coast
Beautiful fall leaves in Colonial Williamsburg
It looks like the storm is supposed to get worse this evening/night, so here's hoping we don't lose power of have any late night emergencies!
