The Month in Photos: January

After the rush of the holidays, I thought January would seem slow, but with our trip to Mesa and a couple of house guests we've stayed busy and the month has flown by. Gussie is full of personality these days and it has been so fun to watch her learn, grow and explore.

Augusta is starting to look a bit more like me, but in this shot she's still a little Ian!

Staying cozy on a rainy day (not that we've had very many this year).

Gussie is endlessly entertained by her toes.

One of those days...lots of house work, a baby that wouldn't go to sleep, and no shower for mama.

I'm kinda obsessed with Gussie's little baby neck, it's so cute!

A GORGEOUS tree in downtown Portland

Sweedeedee's cherry pie.

Snuggles with mommy.

This picture makes me laugh. Gussie looks so intense and kind of mean!

My new favorite coffee shop in Portland, Woodlawn Coffee and Pastry.

The ennui of a house cat.

Clementines and truffles, an easy and sort of healthy dessert.

Broadway Bridge.

Jack is sexy and he know's it.

Our friend Brian came for a visit!

I'm putting this lasagna on rotation.

And Grandma Amy came for a visit!

Floral Bang for Your Buck

A couple days ago I picked up a dozen or so stems of pussy willow and put them in a vase all on their own. I'm loving it! And as a bonus they should last a long time, making them a very economical floral arrangement :).

To Gramma's House We Go!

I'm finally getting around to posting about our trip to Arizona. Gussie was a champ and was cheerful or sleeping on both flights. I was so worried that she'd scream the whole time or experience pain in her ears from altitude changes, so it was a relief that she did so well.

We had a really nice time in Arizona. It was great to get some quality family time in with Gramma and Aunt Joan and to catch up with cousins that I hadn't seen in ages. And of course, we had to get a four-generation picture (thanks Uncle Dan for taking the photo)!

I love this photo of my Gramma and Gussie!

It's citrus season in Arizona right now and the orange/grapefruit/lemon trees were all so pretty with their colorful fruit hanging from their limbs. Gramma even picked some grapefruit for us for breakfast, such a treat!

A photo of me, my mom and Grandpa I found in one of Gramma's family albums.

We spent one afternoon at the Desert Botanical Garden.  I loved seeing all the desert plants and the weather couldn't have been better. The Chihuly glass sculptures were on view, and while normally Chihuly isn't my cup of tea, I have to admit that they were pretty impressive and contrasted well with the plants. Lots of photos below!

I hope to get back to Arizona for another visit sometime soon and am glad we had an auspicious first trip with Gussie.
